Idiograma

Idiograma takes the question “can you train absolute pitch?” and turns it into a structured course of exercises. The user sings or plays into the mic; the app maps the pitch into a constellation of particles whose motion encodes accuracy, drift, and harmonic relationships. It runs live at idiograma.com.

The signature visual element is Moving Bubbles — a particle-physics canvas where each pitch becomes a node and the relationships between pitches drive the motion field. The animation at the top of this page is the same engine, decoupled from audio for portfolio purposes; in production it’s the audio signal that pushes the bubbles around.

What’s interesting from a product lens: the app isn’t a generic ear-training tool. The diagnostic-then-train loop and the visualization-as-feedback are the product, and the design bet is that visual feedback legible enough to motivate practice — without being so dense it discourages — is what makes training stick.
